PURPOSE: A measuring instrument using a cable modem is provided to embody a measuring equipment for the installation and repair of a DOCSIS(Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) standard cable modem. CONSTITUTION: A measuring instrument using a cable modem consists of a cable modem part(1), an input unit(6), a display unit(3), a storage unit(5), an output unit(8), a power supply unit(4), a communication unit(7), and a control unit(2). The cable modem part(1) measures the major elements of upward/downward signals. The input unit(6) inputs a user's request items for measurement. The display unit(3) displays measured results for the inputted measurement items. The storage unit(5) stores measured results or S/W, such as an OS used in the control unit(2). The output unit(8) enables the measured results stored in the storage unit(5) to be moved to the external of the measuring instrument. The power supply unit(4) supplies power so that the measuring instrument can be driven. The communication unit(7) enables data communication to be carried out between the cable modem part(1) and the control unit(2) before a measurement is executed. The control unit(2) enables all signals to be transferred and controlled through the cable modem part(1), the input unit(6), the display unit(3), the storage unit(5), the output unit(8), the power supply unit(4), and the communication unit(7) before a measurement is executed.
