The aim of the invention is to produce a method which produces a metallic foam by adding a foaming agent to the metal melt, characterised in that the metal melt is introduced into the mould cavity in a metallic die casting machine and foamed by means of a gas-releasing foam-foaming agent which is solid at room temperature.
