Adsorptive process for the purification from predominantly organic, odour-active compounds of air, exhaust gases and crude gases by means of open-pored, water- and heat-resistant filter granules from leached, calcined bentonite having a high specific surface area. In fixed, self-supporting contact beds, air and other gases can be purified from undesirable gaseous contaminants to a high degree and inexpensively. The adsorbed compounds can be biologically, thermally or catalytically degraded in the filter granules or washed out by solvents.
