The invention relates to a method for laying a rope, cable or the like (1) which runs between supports (2, 2') which are a long distance apart, such as overhead cable pylons or cable car pylons, with the aid of a helicopter (3) which draws out the rope, cable or the like (1). A pulling rope (5), which is suspended downwards, is inserted inbetween the helicopter (3) and the one end (4) of the rope, cable or the like (1) which is to be laid.
