It has been difficult to adequately conduct sentence recognition by using speech recognition or text recognition. A sentence recognition device comprises a database (101) where pairs of predetermined standard content words composed of predetermined content words are stored, a speech recognition means (102) for recognizing an inputted sentence composed of words, a content word selection means (103) for selecting a content word out of the words constituting a recognized sentence, a judging means (104) for judging whether or not a pair of content words composed of the selected content words is a standard content word pair stored in the database, and a misrecognized content word determining means (105) for determining a misrecognized content word the recognition of which is an error out of the selected content words from the result of the judgment.
