A method of manufacturing a coiled electrode group, comprising the steps of installing positive pole plates (8), negative pole plates (4), and separators (7) of the lengths required to form the coiled electrode group (103) drawably or windably on mounting jigs (30, 32, 28) therefor to form the cassettes (29, 31, 27) thereof, feeding in order the cassettes (29, 31, 27) to a plurality of group winding head units (20) circulating along a specified transfer route for installation and, in the process of calculatingly transferring the group winding head units (20), winding the pole plates (8, 4) fed from the pole plate cassettes (29, 31) around the drivingly rotating winding shafts (22) of the group winding head units (20) while positioning the pole plates (8, 4) on both sides of the separator (7) of the separator cassette (27) at specified relative positions.
