<p>The present invention is directed to a method of inducing tolerance to self-antigens in a subject having an autoimmune diseases. In particular, the invention provides a pharmaceutical composition and method of use thereof for the modulation of immunogical activity in an animal subject. Said modulation may be an increased tolerance to self apoptotic cells, a reduction in the tissue levels of autoantibodies associated with apoptotic cells, a reduction in the tissue levels of autoantibodies associated with an autoimmune disease, a reduction in the level of inflammation and inflammatory mediators associated with an autoimmune disease, a reduction in the level of tissue damage associated with an autoimmune disease, or a combination thereof.</p> |
