<p>A disc reproducer comprising a laser drive circuit (15) which can regulate the power of laser light emitted from an optical head (4) by supplying a drive signal thereto, an error correction circuit (11) for detecting the error rate of a regenerative signal, and a system controller (10) for controlling operation of the laser drive circuit at the time of signal regeneration and signal recording based on the output from the error correction circuit. Since the system controller retrieves one of two limit values of regenerative power where the error rate does not exceed a predetermined value and calculates an optimal regenerative power with reference to one limit value thus retrieved, a transition can be made in a short time to signal regeneration and a highly accurate signal regeneration can be ensured by an optimal regenerative power.</p> |
