<p>An electrical connector includes an insulated housing and a plurality of terminal modules (18) mounted to the insulated housing. Each terminal module includes an insulated molded body (86) enclosing multiple conductors including leads (92) and receptacle contacts (96). A differential shell (166) is mounted to the terminal module. The differential shell includes walls (174, 176, 178) that define chambers (180), and each chamber has an open side (192) through which a corresponding receptacle contact can be inserted into the chamber. The walls of the chambers have non-linear contours that substantially conform to a contour of its corresponding receptacle contact to minimize the air gap between the walls and the contacts, thereby reduce the impedance of the terminal contacts and improving signal performance.</p> |
