<p>A slicing machine for cutting slices from a product is described. The machine includes a camera (1) which views a cut face of the product. A computerised control system including an image processor defines a window (8, 9, 10, 11) embracing the product within the field of view of the camera, the size and position of the window being input to the image processor to enable the processor to process image signals within the window. A hold-down device (6) is provided for holding down the product during slicing, and a position indicating means (7) associated with the hold-down device enables a signal to be generated dynamically, for supply to the image processor, to determine the instantaneous position of the top line (8) of the window during use.</p> |
