The taping machine includes a ring intended to be rotationally driven about its axis and carrying a roll of tape to be wound around a member 12 placed inside the ring 14. The ring includes a retractable section, for example by rocking over the rest of the ring or an elastic open ring and the device 21 for driving the ring is provided for maintaining and bringing back the ring section into the closed position when this device is active.
