In one aspect the present invention provides seven, isolated, Thuja plicata genomic clones (SEQ ID NO:1; SEQ ID NO:3; SEQ ID NO:5; SEQ ID NO:7; SEQ ID NO:9; SEQ ID NO:11; and SEQ ID NO:13) that each comprise a dirigent protein gene. In another aspect, the present invention provides isolated promoter molecules that hybridize under conditions of 2 X SSC at 50 DEG C for 30 minutes to the complement of a promoter molecule consisting of a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:15, SEQ ID NO:16, SEQ ID NO:17, SEQ ID NO:18, SEQ ID NO:19, SEQ ID NO:20, and SEQ ID NO:21. In another aspect, the present invention provides methods of directing the expression of an open reading frame in a plant cell. |
