PURPOSE: A surface acoustic wave device is provided to minimize a loss, have a broad bandwidth and obtain an excellent rectangularity ratio by optimizing the cut angle of a LiTaO3 substrate regarding the added mass of an electrode formed on the substrate. CONSTITUTION: The cut angle of the theta rotation Y-X substrate of LiTaO3 or LiNbO3 is optimized at an angle higher than that in the conventional practice with respect to the added mass of an Au or Cu electrode formed on the surface of the substrate.
