The present invention concerns a method and an apparatus for applying a surface coating on edges of a mineral fibre board. In order to obtain a more uniform edge coating in particular by more complex edge profiles, the invention describes a method and an apparatus for applying a surface coating on edges of a mineral fibre board wherein the applicator roller of the coating station is provided with a profiled perimeter edge corresponding to at least a portion of the profile geometry of the first edge to be coated on the mineral fibre board. Hereby a simple and cost effective process and apparatus is provided for achieving a strong, uniform edge coating on a mineral fibre board. <IMAGE>
