CRT HAVING VIBRATION DAMPER FOR TENSION MASK

PURPOSE: A CRT having a vibration damper for a tension mask is provided to dissipate vibrational energy when the split foot damper rubs against the surface and edge of the border. CONSTITUTION: A CRT comprises a tension mask(30) having a border(45) with an edge(47), and a split foot damper(50) for reducing vibrational energy in the tension mask. The split foot damper includes a first element having a first portion in moveable contact with a surface of the border and a second portion in moveable contact with the edge of the border, and a second element having a third portion in moveable contact with the surface of the border and a fourth portion in moveable contact with the edge of the border. The first element is connected to the second element at a region that is affixed to the surface of the border.
