A process for granulating liquid slag (4) in a water bath, especially a boiling water bath comprises heating the liquid slag with burners (5) to a temperature of 50 to 350 degrees C above the solidus temperature and introducing it into the water bath (2) using an impulse generated by the burner. <??>The burner used is preferably an impulse burner with a gas pre-pressure of 4 to 10 bar, preferably 6 bar. <??>The slag heating stage using the burners is carried out in a space, preferably in a drop shaft (3) coupled above the bath surface, where a pressure above atmospheric is formed. The lower edge of the drop shaft preferably dips into the water bath. <??>The granulate is delivered at a temperature which is above that of the water bath, preferably above the boiling point. |
