A sleeve is rotated to a position in which an aperture is in register with a tool-bit receiving recess in a body rotatably mounted of the shaft of a hand tool suc h as a screwdriver, so that a tool-bit can be removed from or inserted into fat recess in a direction transverse to the axis of the shaft. The sleeve surrounds a rear e nd portion of the body so as to prevent escape of tool-bits from the recesses while leavin g the tool-bits partly visible.
