PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instantaneously judge seating/non-seating without increasing power consumption and without deteriorating noise resistance characteristics. SOLUTION: An apparatus for detecting seating for a local part cleaning device consists of a light emitting means 11 being intermittently driven by a signal with a specified period and a pulse width, a light receiving means 12 for receiving a reflected light of the light emitted by the light emitting means from a human body and a control means 2 for judging the seating condition of the human body from an outputted signal of the light receiving means 12. When the control means 2 detects change in the outputted signal of the light receiving means, the pulse width of a driving signal of the light emitting means is extended. It is attempted to shorten a time required for judging processing while the noise resistance characteristics is ensured by extending the pulse width.
