PURPOSE:To improve the probability of compressing and removing the projecting part on a magnetic disk by a slider by heating a floating head slider which floats on the disk by IR rays from the rear side. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk 1 is rotated at a specified speed by a motor 2 to float the floating head slider 3. The IR rays are projected on the rear face of the slider 3 by an IR lamp 5 to heat the slider 3. The projecting part 1-1 such as dust on the disk larger than the floating space is then compressed or removed by the collision against the slider 3. Since the energy of the collision by the heating is larger than the energy of the collision of the slider and the projecting part at an ordinary temp. as in the prior art, the probability of compressing or removing the projecting part 1-1 is greatly improved.
