PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for manufacturing a yarn package capable of efficiently removing a bunch winding part formed when winding of yarn is started and/or winding thereof ends without causing waste. SOLUTION: In the method and device for manufacturing the yarn package in which the yarn package 1 forming a yarn winding layer 3 in a bobbin 2 and bunch winding parts 3a, 3b of unnecessary threads at outer periphery of the yarn winding layer and/or in a bobbin end part is supported in a support part to remove the bunch winding parts 3a, 3b from the yarn package 1, bunch winding detection means 5, 5' for detecting the presence or absence of the bunch winding parts 3a, 3b are arranged in the vicinity of the yarn package 1 to stop the removing operation of the bunch winding parts when the disappearance of the bunch winding parts 3a, 3b is detected by the bunch winding detection means 5, 5'.
