PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immobilize nucleic acid on a substrate inexpensively and stably for a long period of time without subjecting the substrate to a wet chemical treatment. SOLUTION: Before nucleic acid is immobilized on the substrate, the substrate is treated with an atomic oxygen plasma. Consequently, nucleic acid on the substrate is effectively immobilized. The degree of immobilization can be controlled by changing oxygen pressure and treatment time in the plasma treatment.
