The longitudinal-advancing device for rod material contains a frame (1) on which is attached a chain conveyor which bears a plurality of supports (9) arranged over its periphery. Mounted on every support (9) is a pair of sprung sector clamping pieces (18). Every sector clamping piece (18) is constructed as a two-armed lever which has, on the one arm, an eccentric self-jamming profile (19) intended for interaction with the rod material (7) and, on the other, a roller (20) which is mounted so as to interact with templates (21, 22) which are arranged on the frame (1) in the vicinity of the transition points of the rectilinear sections of the chain conveyor to the curvilinear sections. The chain conveyor is formed by a pair of mutually parallel chains (4, 5), the upper strands of which are situated in the same horizontal plane as the advancing axis (8) of the rod material (7), on both sides of the latter axis. The supports (9) are attached between the chains (4, 5) and rigidly connected to them at their own ends by means of intermediate supports (10) included in the device. Every sector clamping piece (18) is rigidly fastened on the one end of a bolt (16) the other end of which is pivotably mounted on the support (9) and is connected to the latter by means of a spring. <IMAGE>
