ANTITUMOR DRUG HAVING IMPORTIN ALPHA GENE AND/OR RECOMBINANT P53 GENE

PURPOSE: An antitumor drug having an Importin alpha gene and/or a recombinant p53 gene is provided, thereby the antitumor drug can be useful for treatment of cancer. CONSTITUTION: The antitumor drug contains a normal Importin alpha gene having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 or a normal Importin alpha protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. A mutated Importin alpha gene has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3. A vector pVP16/p53 contains a recombinant p53 gene having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4. A transformant KFCC-11258 contains the vector pVP16/p53. The antitumor drug contains the recombinant p53 gene or the recombinant p53 protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5. An expression vector pVP16/p53-Impα contains the normal Importin alpha gene having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 and the recombinant p53 gene having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4. A transformant KFCC-11260 is produced by transforming with the expression vector pVP16/p53-Impα.
