PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly reproduce a TE(tracking error) signal or a RF(radio frequency) signal. SOLUTION: A recording surface of a magneto-optical disk 68 is irradiated with a laser beam through an optical lens 14. The TE signal or the RF signal is detected on the basis of the laser beam reflected by the recording surface. A MPU 50 displaces the optical lens 14 along with the direction of the optical axis. A TE signal detection circuit 42 or a RF signal detection circuit 60 detects the TE signal or the RF signal in respective positions of the displaced lens. Laser power is adjusted by the MPU 50 so that amplitude of each detected TE signal or RF signal is caused to be less than a saturated value. When the parameter is adjusted, the position of the optical lens 14 is controlled so that the TE signal or the RF signal detected thereafter is caused to have the maximum amplitude. |
