PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for confirming the soundness of a relay in a relay output apparatus by checking the motion of an individual relay while the relay output apparatus is not outputting to a load. SOLUTION: While the relay output apparatus 2 stops driving loads P1 to Pn, it turns on and off sequentially each of a control relay C.Ry. and position relays P.RY-1 to P.RY-n periodically in a timing that a motion of the position relay P.RY and a motion of the control relay C.Ry are not overlapped. The soundness of the relays are checked by reading back on-off motions of read back contacts RBc, and RB1 to RBn. When receiving a drive command 1a of a load Pm, the apparatus immediately interrupts the checking, turns on the indicated position relay P.Ry-m, sends a reply on this result, and drives the load Pm by turning on the control relay C.Ry. Next, it receives a load driving cancellation command P.Ry-m OFF from an upper system 1, and continues the checking after it turns off the drive of the load Pm. |
