PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC surface discharge type plasma display panel which is capable of suppressing discharge, ensuring larger effective light emission area and improving brightness and light-emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: In this AC surface discharge type plasma display panel forming a plurality of discharge cells (C1 to C9) by disposing a front plate and a rear plate in face-to-face close-contact arrangement, a plurality of address electrodes (21 to 24) and barrier ribs (31 to 34) are formed by bending in parallel with a pair of display electrodes and alternately opposite direction with a prescribed width in each space between adjacent display electrodes. Here, the front plate is formed by arranging a plurality of a pair of straight-line-like display electrodes (D1 to D3), which are composed with maintaining electrodes (X1, Y1 to X3, Y3) arranged in facing each other, in parallel each other on a front glass substrate, and also the rear plate is formed with a plurality of the address electrodes (21 to 24) arranged in the direction of crossing pairs of display electrodes (D1 to D3) at right angles and the barrier ribs (31 to 34) arranged in both sides of a plurality of the address electrodes (21 to 24) disposed on a rear glass substrate.
