PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk apparatus which can surely perform a tracking on a desired track, by applying a brake with the magnitude according to a moving velocity of a lens. SOLUTION: When the lens 4a reaches to the position 1/2 track before the desired track in a track jumping, a servo processor 7 applies the brake with the brake-amount according to the moving velocity of the lens 4a at the time of passing by the track immediately before the desired track. The moving velocity of the lens 4a is detected by a period of a tracking error signal. Accordingly, it can surely perform the tracking on the desired track, without passing over the desired track due to insufficiency in the break.
