PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extremely reduce any reading error at a reader side due to the thickness of dots resulting from inter-dot interference when dots are closely or adjacently arranged. SOLUTION: The presence or absence of a dot is defined according to '1' or '0' of recorded data. When a dot code constituted by arranging those dots according to a prescribed format is recorded on a recording medium so as to be optically readable, the image data of each dot are generated according to the interference of the dots arranged according to the prescribed format, and the recording of each dot is performed according to the generated image data. For example, when the dot under consideration is an isolated dot, a dot density whose tone value is '50' is allocated. When the dot under consideration is made adjacent to any dot at the right and/or left side or at the upper and/or lower side, a dot density whose tone value is '70' is allocated, and when the dot under consideration is made adjacent to dots at the right and/or lest side and at the upper and/or lower side, a dot density whose tone value is '100' is allocated.
