PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device by which images for which the resolutions of a main scanning direction and a sub scanning direction are different are formed with high quality. SOLUTION: A color image formation device 1 detects an area A which is a direct adjacent area composed of a dot directly adjacent to a latch X which is the target dot as pixel unit and areas B, C and D which are a plurality of indirect adjacent areas composed of a plurality of the dots adjacent to the area A in the scanning direction of the lower resolution between the main scanning direction and sub scanning direction of different write resolutions, and it detects the conditions of the dots of the detected area A and areas B-D and performs the data conversion of the target dot on the basis of the condition detected results in conversion parts 128 and 129. Thus, even in the case that the write resolutions are different for main scanning and sub scanning, an optimum dot reproduction is realized corresponding to the peripheral conditions of the target dot, various pseudo gradation processings are appropriately processed and image quality is improved.
