PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information signal processor and an information signal processing method capable of performing processing, such as classification, of an inputted information signal, recording the inputted information signal together with an identification information signal and immediately grasping a recorded scene by using the inputted information signal and the identification information signal in a reproduction mode, and to provide an information signal recorder and an information signal recording medium. SOLUTION: This information signal processor is provided with a characteristic signal detecting means for detecting a prescribed characteristic signal from a prescribed information signal, a first memory means for storing a prescribed section signal from the characteristic signal detecting means in a first memory area, an operating means for performing a prescribed arithmetic processing by using the signal from the characteristic signal detecting means and the signal from the first memory means, an identification information signal generating means for generating a prescribed identification information signal that performs one-to-one correspondence to the signal in the first memory area in accordance with the arithmetic results of the operating means, and a second memory means for storing the signal from the identification information signal generating means in a second memory area.
