PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and peripheral devices for enabling the terminal ID of a vending machine to be decided easily and properly, and given with definite flexibility. SOLUTION: This invention is related to a vending machine, that consists of a main device (101) and plural peripheral devices (102-106) connected to the main device via a communication line in which the terminal ID of a new peripheral (106) is determined according to following process: plural IDs that identify the new peripheral device (106) are stored in it; the peripheral device (106) receives communications made between the main device (101) and the peripheral devices (102-106); when it is recognized that no other peripheral device responds to a command sent from the main device (101) and that the command matches with one of terminal IDs stored in own device, the matching terminal ID is decided as being the own terminal ID, responding it to the main device (101).
