PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a certificate verification system to speedily and efficiently verify a certificate that is a verification object even when handling massive discarded information of certificates. SOLUTION: A certificate verification system verifies a certificate sent from a communication partner on a network and certifies whether the certificate is a real one or not. The certificate verification system is provided with a means which has a discarded certificate list table indicating a list of certificates discarded in the effective period and records the currently effective range of certificate issue number in the discarded certificate list table, a means to secure in a storage part respective flag corresponding uniquely to every certificate within a whole range indicated in the currently effective certificate issue number of the discarded certificate list, a means to set on for only flags corresponding to the discarded certificates indicated in the certificate discarded list among flags secured in the storage part and to record them, and a means to investigate whether the certificate is within the effective period and not discarded based on the state of flags corresponding to the certificate of verification object. Consequently, the certificate as the verification object is verified. |
