PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that can automatically transmit/ receive image data when the capacity of an image memory is deficient and the deficiency is recovered after that. SOLUTION: A main control section 1 of a receiver side facsimile terminal 20 detects an incoming call from a destination facsimile terminal (YES in step S22 in Fig. 3) and when the residual capacity of the image memory is deficient (YES in step S23), the main control section 1 transmits an NSF signal that is a procedure signal denoting it to the destination facsimile terminal (step S24), receives an NSS signal being a procedure signal denoting an instruction of polling reception from the destination facsimile terminal (YES in steps S26, S27), and when the residual capacity of the image memory is restored to a prescribed capacity or more (NO in step S21), the main control section 1 makes a call to the destination facsimile terminal (step S42), and receives image data from the destination facsimile terminal and stores the data to the image memory (step S43).
