PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information input/output device which can efficiently transfer packets. SOLUTION: The information input/output device is equipped with a packet- input side FIFO 2, a packet-output side FIFO 4, and a microcomputer 3 which reads packets out of the packet-input side FIFO 2 or packet-output side FIFO 4 and transfers the packets to the FIFO 4 or FIFO 2 according to the state of the FIFO 2 or FIFO 4; even when the transfer-source FIFO 2 has packets that the microcomputer 3 is to transfer and the transfer-destination FIFO 4 does not have enough free capacity, the microcomputer 3 can prepare for starting the transfer, and consequently the use efficiency of the microcomputer 3 and FIFOs is improved together with the transfer efficiency.
