PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile terminal and its control method where a receiver side is not aware of division processing and reduced print by applying division processing to a length of a large sized original in the subscanning direction. SOLUTION: First, an operator designates division/reduction processing of a transmission original (step S1). When designated operation contents indicate a division page (step S2/Yes), an image is read from a middle part in the subscanning direction by shifting by an optional overlapped width (step S3). When the operation contents indicate no division page (step S2/No), whether or not the width in the main scanning direction is wider than the width of the size A3 is discriminated (step S4), when the width in the main scanning direction is greater (step S4/Yes), the image is reduced to the size A3 and read (step S5). When the image is smaller than the width of the size A3 (step S4/No), the image is read without magnification. Since the original with a large size is read by applying division processing to the length in the subscanning direction, the receiver side is not aware of the division processing or reduced print.
