摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-power consumption type or low drive voltage type light-emitting diode(LED) which uses a lower driving voltage, and moreover reduces power consumption. SOLUTION: On a semiconductor substrate 1, a buffer layer 2 of one conductivity-type, reflection layer 3, and contact layer 4 of one conductivity-type are laminated. On the contact layer 4 of one conductivity-type, a semiconductor clad layer 5 of one conductivity-type, semiconductor active layer 6 of the opposite conductivity-type, semiconductor clad layer 7 of the opposite conductivity- type, and contact layer 8 of the opposite conductivity-type, each having a smaller area than a film formation area of the contact layer 4 of one conductivity-type, are laminated in this order. An electrode 9 is formed on the contact layer 8 of the opposite conductivity-type, and electrodes 10 are formed both on the rear face of the semiconductor substrate 1 and in a non-film forming region on the contact layer 4 of one conductivity type.
