PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the sure tracking operation in the variable-speed reproduction. SOLUTION: Searching picture data for twenty-four times speed reproduction are recorded so as to be presented for every 48 tracks. In sub-code data, a sub-code ternary counter showing the search data recorded position is assigned. In a sub-code sync block of this title time code, the same data are recorded repeatedly three times. Then, the search pattern of twenty-four times speed is surely phase-locked by using the value of the ternary counter as the phase servo detecting information of the search.
