PURPOSE:To apply a constant back tension to a thermal transfer material and prevent amplification of skewing by providing a rotary body rotated following up to the rotation of a payout reel, and a means for applying a constant resisting torque to the rotation of the rotary body. CONSTITUTION:When an ink ribbon is drawn out, a payout ribbon roll is rotated, and a tension roller 8a pressed against the outer periphery of the ribbon roll is rotated. In this case, a rotation-resisting torque is applied to the rotation of the roller 8a due to a frictional resistance of a resisting torque applying means 9, whereby a constant back tension is exerted on the ink ribbon being drawn out. Since the frictional resistance of the means 9 is independent of the coefficient of friction of the ink ribbon, a constantly fixed back tension is applied to the ribbon even when the coefficient of friction of the ribbon is varied due to environmental variations. Since the tension roller 8a in contact with the payout ribbon roll, a uniform back tension is exerted on the ribbon, and the ribbon is fed without any amplification of skewing. |
