PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cobalt compound capable of manufacturing alkaline storage battery of a long life and high reliability, a method for manufacturing the same, a positive electrode plate for alkaline storage battery using the same, and an alkaline storage battery. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a cobalt compound obtained by heating a mixture of cobalt hydroxide powder and sodium hydroxide powder under an oxygen atmosphere, a cobalt compound obtained by adding an aqueous solution containing an oxidizing agent and a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution to cobalt hydroxide powder, and a cobalt compound obtained by sintering cobalt hydroxide powder under an oxygen atmosphere. |
