PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that prevents the entire communication time from being extended longer than required even in the case of re- transmission due to occurrence of error in the ECM (Error Correction Mode) communication. SOLUTION: A CFR (message transmission start OK signal) is received (ST2), FAX data are transmitted (ST4), and when no MCF (message confirmation signal) is received (ST5) and a PPR(Partial Page Response) takes place four times or more, a fallback is applied to a MODEM at a minimum speed (ST9), frames for the correction of erroneous frames are retransmitted at the speed (ST10), when all frame error takes place and fallback has already been executed (ST11), an EOM(end of message) signal is transmitted (ST13), the processing returns to the step ST1, and succeeding pages are transmitted at a speed restored to that at transmission start.
