PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide communication equipment that can quickly specify a channel suitable for communication. SOLUTION: A CPU 7 supplies prescribed frequency division ratio setting data to a PLL(phase locked loop) synthesizer 8 to set a reference frequency of the PLL synthesizer 8 being a local signal source to be the double of a channel step and the PLL synthesizer 8 locks channels at an interval of a channel. Then the CPU 7 reads the signal strength measured by a detector 4 from a memory 6. The CPU 7 specifies a channel with the highest signal strength among values of the read signal strength.
