PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of a power storage unit by making its cycle life longer, and to reduce the load on the environments by using materials kind to the environment. SOLUTION: In a power converter comprising a power storage unit and an AC/DC converter, which charges and discharges the power storage unit and outputs and inputs the stored power, an electric double layer capacitor 5 is applied as a power storage unit, a two-quadrant chopper (reversible chopper) 4 is interposed between the electric double layer capacitor 5 and the AC/DC converter 2 as a charger/discharger of the electric double layer capacitor 5, a DC side of the AC/DC converter 2 is connected to a high voltage side of the two-quadrant chopper (reversible chopper) 4, and the electric double layer capacitor 5 is connected to a low voltage side of the two-quadrant chopper (reversible chopper) 4. |
