PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which can produce a video which does not impart incongruity feeling to the user, even when the illuminance of an object is varied abruptly. SOLUTION: When the illuminance of the object is low, a system control microcomputer 7 controls a sensitization circuit 4 to perform sensitization processing and subtracts the amplification factor of the sensitization circuit from the amplification factor of a CDS/AGC circuit 2. Since the total amplification factor can be varied smoothly, a video which does not impart incongruity feeling to user can be obtained.
