PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for reading readable characters capable of further easily reading characters or symbols readable by a human being without using any OCR or the like. SOLUTION: An information code 1 is provided with a micro-QR code 2 and a character 3 readable by the human being, and the character 3 is read by a code reader by using symbols 4a and 4b arranged at the both edge parts of the character 3. In this case, the CPU of the code reader sets a plurality of scanning lines U, M, and D in a character area 1b, and identifies the character 3 based on the data pattern of the character 3 optically obtained by scanning the character 3 according to the plurality of scanning lines. |
