PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal, the resolution of which can be set depending on the state of use by the user. SOLUTION: When the communication terminal enters a resolution setting mode, first the terminal displays a message of 'please select the 'standard' resolution' and selectable resolutions are displayed except two higher resolutions [Figure 3 (a)], and the communication terminal awaits a selection entry, when the user selects e.g. a resolution of 200×200 dpi, the terminal sets the selected resolution to be the standard resolution. Then the terminal displays a message of 'Please select the 'high image quality' resolution' and displays selectable resolutions except resolutions lower than those set to be the high image quality and standard resolutions [Figure 3 (b)], the terminal awaits for the selection entry and when the user selects a resolution of e.g. 400×400 dpi, the terminal sets the selected resolution to be a high image quality resolution.
