PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor drive that can contribute to a high breakdown voltage, high heat resistance, and a long life, and to obtain a reliable electrolytic capacitor that uses the electrolyte and has a high breakdown voltage. SOLUTION: The electrolyte 4 for drive is dipped into a capacitor element 9. In the electrolyte 4, an organic solvent contains at least one kind of inorganic acid and/or its salt, and organic acid and/or its salt as a dissolved substance, and at the same time polyN-vinylacetamide that is shown by a general expression (a chemical formula 1: where (n) indicates an arbitrary natural number) is added, thus greatly improving a sparkling generation voltage without reducing conductivity, and obtaining the electrolytic capacitor having a high breakdown voltage of 500 V or higher, and stable long-time characteristics even at a temperature of 125 deg.C.
