PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of displaying topology that enables indicated node information to be easily made to correspond to actual node of an object apparatus and to realizes a display device using the method. SOLUTION: This a method is for displaying topology, which graphically displays the status of a node connected to an IEEE 1394 serial bus. The indication is performed according to the following process, by the use of the installed database that provides relations between node vendors ID and the names of the vendors. Among GUIDs read from each node connected to the IEEE 1394 serial bus, the vendor name corresponding to the vendor ID is acquired from the database, and the acquired vendor name is displayed as the node information.
