<p>A linear motion apparatus (10) includes an elongate rectangular supporting shaft (13) and a carriage (16) slidable along the supporting shaft (13). The carriage includes opposed roller bearings (26) which are arranged at opposite sides of the supporting shaft and are in contact with the respective surfaces of the supporting shaft (13).
