An electronic potential transformer comprising: a. a transmitter connected to the high voltage mains, and comprising a voltage divider for generating a low voltage proportional to the measured high voltage, means for measuring the amplitude of the low voltage and for encoding the measurements into digital signals and an optical transmitter. b. a receiver comprising an optical receiver, signal processor for decoding the received signals; c. optical fiber cables connected between the transmitter and receiver. A power supply system for supplying electrical power to circuits under high voltage, comprising: a. a primary wire connected to a power supply generating a periodically varying current; b. a plurality of ferromagnetic cores with secondary coils wound thereon, wherein the primary wire passes through all the cores and each secondary coil is connected to a power supply; and c. mechanical support means for keeping the primary wire and the ferromagnetic cores at a predefined relative orientation therebetween.
