A hand tool for applying enhanced forces comprises a base, a first and a second acting member and a driving member for forcing the first and the second acting member moving toward each other. The first and the second acting members may include cutting blades for cutting articles or gripping jaws for gripping or deforming articles. The hand tool of the present invention has a compact structure convenient for carrying, and is capable of providing enhanced force for performing gripping or cutting functions. The hand tool of the present invention may also be suitable for incorporating into multifunction pocket tools or tool kits, such as a Swiss Army Knife.
